The Jasper Picture Company’s Latest Acquisition
Introduction
Since its inception in 2014, The Jasper Picture Company has been committed to delivering high-quality content for our valued clients. As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re thrilled to announce our latest acquisition: two Sony FR7 cameras (with a third on the way). This state-of-the-art equipment will allow us to take our live streaming services to new heights.
The Sony FR7: A Game Changer in Live Streaming
The Sony FR7 is a unique camera that combines the best of a cinema camera and a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) system. It’s compact, versatile, and packed with features that make it a game changer in the world of live streaming.
One of the Sony FR7’s standout features is its swappable lenses. This feature, typically found in cinema cameras, allows us to adapt to different shooting environments and requirements, offering our clients more flexibility and creative possibilities.
The Relationship to the Sony FX6
The Sony FR7 shares many features with the Sony FX6, a cinema camera known for its exceptional image quality and versatility. Like the FX6, the FR7 offers advanced imaging capabilities, including a wide dynamic range and high sensitivity for shooting in low light conditions.
However, the FR7 goes a step further by integrating these features into a PTZ system. This means that, in addition to delivering cinema-quality images, the FR7 can also be remotely controlled, making it perfect for live event broadcasting and other applications where mobility and flexibility are key.
Sony FR7 vs Sony FX6: A Detailed Comparison
While the Sony FR7 shares many features with the Sony FX6, it also introduces several new capabilities that make it a standout choice for live streaming.
The FR7’s 10.3MP sensor is backed by Sony’s powerful BIONZ XR image processor, just like the FX6. This ensures that the FR7 delivers exceptional image quality, even in challenging lighting conditions.
In terms of video capabilities, both the FR7 and FX6 can record up to UHD 4K120 video. However, the FR7 takes this a step further by integrating these capabilities into a PTZ system.
One of the standout features of the Sony FR7 is its wide dynamic range of 15+ stops. This, combined with its dual-base ISO (Base 1: 800; Base 2: 12,800 to 409,600), ensures that the FR7 can capture high-quality images in a wide range of lighting conditions.
The FR7 also supports 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording, ensuring that your live streams have the highest possible color accuracy and detail.
Practical Use Cases for the Sony FR7
The Sony FR7 is a versatile tool that can be used in a variety of scenarios. Here are a few examples:
Live Event Broadcasting: With its PTZ capabilities, the FR7 can capture dynamic, multi-angle coverage of live events, from concerts to corporate conferences.
Remote Production: The remote control capabilities of the FR7 make it ideal for situations where the number of on-site crew is limited.
Educational Content: For educational clients, the FR7 can be used to live stream lectures and other educational content, providing students with a rich, immersive learning experience.
Sports Broadcasting: The FR7’s high-speed autofocus and image stabilization features make it perfect for capturing fast-paced sports action.
Lens Options for the Sony FR7
The Sony FR7 offers a wide range of lens compatibility, allowing us to adapt to different shooting environments and requirements. This flexibility is one of the reasons why we chose the FR7 for our live-streaming services. Whether we’re shooting in a small indoor space or a large outdoor venue, the FR7’s swappable lenses ensure we can deliver the best possible image quality. Any E mount lens will work, meaning that lenses we already have for our FX6’s will be able to be mounted.
Powered zooms are the ideal choice for the FR7 (which limits you to three to choose from) but the item in the next paragraph means that we can use any E mount zoom lens with the FR7.
Introducing the Chrosziel CDM-SFR
In addition to the Sony FR7, we’re also excited to announce that we’ll soon be incorporating the Chrosziel CDM-SFR into our live-streaming setup. The CDM-SFR is a universal zoom motor unit designed specifically for the Sony FR7. It seamlessly integrates with the FR7, enhancing its operating functions and providing even more flexibility.
The CDM-SFR mounts via a 15mm rod clamp and features an RJ45 connector for easy integration with the FR7. It’s powered by the same power supply used by the FR7, ensuring a seamless and efficient setup.
With the CDM-SFR, we can remotely control the zoom of the FR7, allowing us to capture dynamic, multi-angle coverage of live events with any E mount zoom lens. Whether we’re broadcasting a corporate conference,a live concert, or a sporting event, the CDM-SFR will help us deliver a rich, immersive viewing experience for our audience.
The Sony RM-IP500
In addition to the Sony FR7 and the Chrosziel CDM-SFR, we’re also thrilled to announce that we’ll be incorporating the Sony RM-IP500 into our live-streaming setup. The RM-IP500 is a professional remote controller designed specifically for Sony’s PTZ cameras, including the FR7.
This compact unit features a high-quality joystick that allows for effortless one-handed pan, tilt, and zoom adjustments. This means that we can control the movement and focus of the FR7 remotely, providing even more flexibility and control during live streams.
The RM-IP500 also has the capability of controlling up to 100 separate cameras over IP, making it an invaluable tool for large-scale events and productions. Whether we’re broadcasting a multi-camera live event or producing remote content, the RM-IP500 will help us deliver a seamless, professional-quality live stream.
At The Jasper Picture Company, we’re excited to harness the power of the Sony FR7 to deliver even better live streaming services for our clients. Whether you’re planning a corporate event, a live concert, an educational seminar, or a sporting event, our new equipment will ensure that your live stream is of the highest quality.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible with live streaming.
